Model Behaviour.
So Kate Nash has had quite a bit of criticism for a track she released the other day. It's called "Under-Estimate The Girl" and it was written and recorded within 24 hours. Some YouTube comments are pretty unflattering: "I'm trying to work out if this is meant to be terrible. Its absolutely rats" and "middle class white girls wearing bindis trying to look edgy whilst singing in a forced punk voice...is not punk". But for the casual listeners, Kate has actually been moving in this musical direction for a while. In 2008 she began performing a song called "Model Behaviour" live and it was a very different to the usual "Foundations"/"Merry Happy" sound. Obscene lyrics with a killa drum beat gave a taste of what was to come. On her second album, a couple tracks continued the Riot Gurrl theme; "I Just Love You More" and "Mansion Song" are pretty dark, and so people really shouldn't be freaking out about this new track! And if you really don't like it - chill, it's not her single! It might not even be on the album. But this new Kate is here to stay and I love it.
